Toledoan appointed to state optical board

COLUMBUS - Gov. Bob Taft has appointed Brian Miller, of Toledo, an ocularist and optician at Miller Artificial Eye Laboratory Inc., to replace his uncle on the Ohio Optical Dispensers Board.

The board issues, suspends, and revokes licenses for dispensing opticians and oversees license examinations. Members are compensated $18.98 per hour, plus expenses.

Mr. Miller, who has a certificate of completion of apprenticeship, will serve through March 21, 2010. He replaces Roy R. Miller, whose term expired.
