BLADE COLUMBUS BUREAU

COLUMBUS - Gov. Bob Taft has picked Edward Kidston, mayor of the village of Pioneer, to replace Tom Noe on the Ohio Turnpike Commission.

Mr. Noe, the Maumee coin-dealer and Republican fund-raiser, resigned last month amid investigations into his management of two rare-coin investment funds for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.

Mr. Kidston has contributed to the campaigns of several Republicans at the statewide and legislative levels, but he has not contributed to Mr. Taft, according to records filed with the Ohio Secretary of State's office.

The president and chief executive officer of Kidston Family Companies will serve through June 30, 2011. He will receive $5,000 a year plus expenses. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Tri-State University.
