Taft appoints Bluffton professor, homeless-group CEO to boards

COLUMBUS - Kay Soltesz, professor of dietetics at Bluffton University, has been named by Gov. Bob Taft to the Ohio Board of Dietetics.

The board regulates the licensing, testing, and continuing education of dieticians. Members are compensated $19.55 an hour plus expenses.

Ms. Soltesz, of Pemberville, replaces David Holben, whose term expired.

She holds a bachelor's degree in dietetics from the University of Cincinnati, a master of health education from Bowling Green State University, and a doctorate in health education from the University of Toledo. She will serve through June 2011.

Jane "Sammie" Rhoades, chief executive officer of Findlay Hope House for the Homeless Inc., has been appointed to the Interagency Council on Homelessness and Housing.

She replaces Jonathon Bailey, who resigned.

The unpaid panel makes recommendations to the governor on strategies to address homelessness.

Ms. Rhoades is a graduate of Adrian College.
