Directors of Sunshine Inc. of Northwest Ohio have chosen Elizabeth "Betty" Holland as executive director for the agency that serves mentally retarded and developmentally disabled people.

She is to start Aug. 20 at the nonprofit, Mennonite-affiliated organization.

She succeeds John Martin, who resigned in January to direct the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, and Margaret Kaya, who is the interim executive director.

Ms. Holland directs program operations at Grafton School, which serves about 1,500 people in Virginia and Maryland who have complex disabilities and significant behavioral problems.

A Michigan native, she has been employed for 24 years at Grafton, which is based in Winchester, Va.
