WASHINGTON - The deadline for northwest Ohio residents and business owners to apply for federal assistance for facilities damaged by the August floods is tomorrow.

Businesses in Allen, Crawford, Hancock, Hardin, Putnam, Richland, and Wyandot counties are eligible for funding on a cost-sharing basis to cover removal of debris, emergency services related to the flooding, and for repair or replacement of damaged facilities, including buildings, utilities, roads, and parks, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Those seeking assistance for houses that were damaged can receive a maximum of $28,200 in aid to cover the cost of temporary housing, repairs, and construction.

The funding will cover damage sustained between Aug. 20 and Aug. 28.

To apply for aid, call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362 or apply online at http://www.fema.gov/assistance/index.shtm.

Business loan applications also can be downloaded from the U.S. Small Business Administration Web site at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.
