DAYTON - Jurors in Dayton will hear closing arguments Monday in the trial of a woman accused of killing her baby in a microwave oven.

The defense called 16 witnesses, but not defendant China Arnold, before resting on Thursday. Judge John Kessler dismissed the jury for the weekend.

Ms. Arnold, 27, has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder in the death of 3-week-old Paris Talley in August, 2005.

She faces a possible death sentence if convicted.

The final two witnesses were inmates who were in the Montgomery County jail at the same time as Ms. Arnold. They disputed testimony by prosecution witnesses who'd said they heard Ms. Arnold tell another inmate that she didn't mean to kill her baby.
