CLEVELAND Forty-one people suspected of trading child pornography online have been charged after a six-month investigation in and around Cleveland.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason says the effort dubbed Operation SafetyNet used new software to track the swapping of illegal images via online file-sharing networks.

Mason on Thursday said 29 adults and 12 juveniles were charged with creating or distributing sexually oriented material involving minors. Collectively, the group faces more than 1,300 counts.

Information about other possible suspects has been sent to other Ohio counties or other states. But Mason complained that there are many people targeting children anonymously using the Internet and catching even one is difficult.
