CLEVELAND The Pentagon says an Ohio soldier was killed by a roadside bomb this week in Iraq.

The military said Friday that 21-year-old Cpl. Brad Davis of Garfield Heights in suburban Cleveland died Wednesday near Baghdad of injuries suffered when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle.

Davis was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division based in Fort Bragg, N.C.

His sister, Jennifer Gardner, says Davis planned to leave the military when his second deployment ended in December.

Davis was a 2006 graduate of Garfield Heights High School. Gardner says he was the type who was always there for you but he also had a prankster side.
