DETROIT — Michigan officials say the state's unemployment rate has remained unchanged in the past month, with little movement since summer 2009. The U.S. rate also stayed put at 9.7 percent.

The state Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth said Wednesday that Michigan's seasonally adjusted jobless rate in March was 14.1 percent, the same as in February but up from 12.6 percent in March 2009.

National comparisons aren't yet available for March, but Michigan's February unemployment rate was highest for any state.

The biggest state job losses in the past 12 months have been 28,000 jobs in manufacturing; 22,000 in trade, transportation and utilities; and 16,000 in construction.
