COLUMBUS - State officials say two lakes in southeastern Ohio opened in time for the Labor Day weekend.
Officials said it's safe for boaters, swimmers, and fishermen to head to Lake Hope and Jackson Lake after two weeks of toxin-free testing cleared both lakes from the algae-bloom advisory list.
Ohio officials also have downgraded a toxin advisory at Deer Creek State Park lake, but people there should avoid contact with any algae.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources said it hopes cooler temperatures this month will take all of the state lakes off the advisory list.
