Ohio eases way to pay driver reinstatement fees
3/18/2011Ohioans now can pay suspension reinstatement fees by phone when calling the Automated Telephone System at 1-866-OPLATES.
The service previously was available only by mail, online, or in person at a reinstatement center. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles now offers phone payment.
To pay online or by calling 1-866-OPLATES, the reinstatement fee must be at least $25 and the fee must be paid through checking accounts by entering the nine-digit routing number and account number at the bottom of the check.
While the payment can be made online, all other reinstatement requirements such as court appearances, clearing suspensions in other states, community service, or filing of proof of insurance must be completed before driving privileges are restored.
