Tornado touchdown confirmed in western Ohio
4/27/2011NEW CARLISLE, Ohio — The National Weather Service says a tornado that touched down in western Ohio snapped and uprooted several trees and damaged the roof of an RV dealership.
The service reports that no injuries were reported from the weak tornado that touched down in Clark County around 9:53 a.m. Wednesday as storms moved across the state. Meteorologist Andrew Snyder with the service’s Wilmington office says the tornado had winds of about 70 to 75 mph. He says it damaged trees along a path about 1.5-miles long and about 200 yards wide just south of New Carlisle along State Route 235.
Snyder says the tornado also partially lifted the roof of the RV dealership.
Snyder says the tornado received the weakest rating in a system based on the damage they cause.
