Michigan governor plans visits to northern cities, including Upper Peninsula

MACKINAW CITY, Mich. — Gov. Rick Snyder is planning some appearances in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula.

The Republican governor on Saturday is scheduled to participate in a ceremony in Mackinaw City.

The ceremony will transfer the ownership of a U.S. Coast Guard cutter from the federal government to the Icebreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum.

Snyder will start next week in the Upper Peninsula.

He has events planned in St. Ignace, Sault St. Marie, Grand Marais and Marquette on Monday. He plans to discuss the Soo Locks at one event and is scheduled to address the Marquette Economic Club at another.

On Tuesday, the governor has events scheduled in Marquette and Houghton.
