Cleveland nightclub denied liquor license after June shooting

CLEVELAND — The state won’t renew the liquor license of a violence-plagued downtown Cleveland nightclub, including a June shooting that injured three people.

A letter from the Ohio Division of Liquor Control cites ongoing fights, sexual activity, drug use, public urination and litter at Club Allure, a nightclub just off Public Square.

The Plain Dealer reports Friday that Cleveland Councilman Joe Cimperman has been actively seeking to have the club’s license revoked.

The state says that stray bullets from the June shooting hit nearby Johnny Q’s Steakhouse, causing $1,000 in damages.

An attorney for the club says the business will likely appeal the state’s decision.
