$300,000 in drugs seized on Ohio Turnpike

BEREA, Ohio — The Ohio State High Highway Patrol has seized more than $300,000 in illegal drugs and made three arrests in traffic stops along the Ohio Turnpike in northern Ohio.

The patrol says the first arrests were made Tuesday in Lorain County when officers stopped a car for allegedly following another vehicle too closely. A drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to about $200,000 worth of cocaine and heroin in the car.

Officers arrested a 25-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, both of Michigan. They were arrested on charges including possession of and aggravated trafficking in cocaine and heroin.

Officers stopped another car Wednesday for an alleged speed violation in Sandusky County. They say they found 20 pounds of marijuana worth $100,000. A Lorain man was charged with possession of and trafficking in marijuana.
