GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Huntington Bank plans to open seven-day-a-week, full-service branches in dozens of Meijer Inc. stores throughout Michigan in the coming years.

The bank and the Grand Rapids-based retailer announced the 10-year partnership on Wednesday. They say it will add 500 jobs for Huntington Bank in Michigan. The branches will operate with extended hours, giving shoppers time to conduct business on evenings and weekends.

Columbus, Ohio-based Huntington Bancshares Inc. says it's partnered with Grand Rapids-based furniture maker Steelcase Inc. to design the branches.

They say the branches first will be built in more than 20 Meijer stores in Michigan. The first opens in a newly-opened Meijer store in the Bath area on May 17.
