National Weather Service issues heat advisories for most of Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio— Weather officials are warning Ohio residents to stay cool from excessive heat that is hitting the state for the Fourth of July holiday.

The National Weather Service issued on Wednesday several heat advisories and warnings for most of the state, and predicted temperatures will hover in the upper 90s.

Officials say the high temperatures could cause a heat stroke or other related illnesses, especially for the elderly and young children. They warned that people who remain without power in their homes will be more susceptible to the heat.

Weekend thunderstorms knocked out power for hundreds of thousands of people in the state. About 198,000 remain without it, and at least one electricity company says it might not be restored until the end of the week.
