A series of boating education courses in three northwest Ohio communities has been scheduled by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, starting with a two-session class today and Wednesday in Bowling Green.

After the classes at the Wood County Park District, 18729 Mercer Rd., the course will be offered April 29-30 at the Maumee Bay State Park Nature Center, 1400 State Park Rd., Oregon, and May 6-7 at Bass Pro Shops, 10000 Bass Pro Blvd., Rossford.

All sessions run 5 to 9 p.m. each day. A $5 fee covers course material.

Advance registration is required because of limited class sizes and may be made by calling the ODNR Maumee Bay Watercraft Office at 419-836-6003 or visiting ohiodnr.com.

Ohio law requires any person born after Jan. 1, 1982, to be able to show proof of having taken a basic boating safety course if he or she operates a boat powered by a motor of greater than 10 horsepower.
