MONROE, Ohio — Police in southern Ohio insist they are making progress in solving the slaying of an 87-year-old woman whose body was found in the trunk of her Cadillac five months ago.

Barbara Howe's body was found in the trunk of the car parked in a lot in Middletown, between Dayton and Cincinnati, Nov. 1. Her daughter had reported her missing four days earlier.

No arrests have been made despite 75 tips from the public and a $10,000 reward. Her daughter, Donna Wesselman, says she thinks her mother, who lived in a retirement village, knew her killer.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that police know how and where Howe died but have declined to release that information.

Detective Gregg Myers tells the newspaper that the investigation is “in a good place.”
