CLEVELAND — A nesting male eagle has gone missing in the Cleveland area.

Bird watchers at the Cleveland Metroparks Rocky River Reservation just west of the city are concerned because the eagle hasn't been seen for several days.

The answer may be the carcass of an eagle found last week on Interstate 480 in Cleveland.

Bird watchers tell The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer that they have heard the female eagle crying out for her mate. This is the fourth year the pair has nested in the park.

Without a mate, the female eagle has been leaving the nest for food. That leaves the egg or eggs unattended and puts them at risk.
