ATHENS, Ohio — A southeastern Ohio woman was jailed and charged with assaulting a man with a machete.

Athens police tell the Athens Messenger that 33-year-old April Murphy, of Athens, was arrested Friday and charged with felonious assault.

Responding to a call at about 11 a.m. Friday, police arrived at 8 Franklin Ave. to find Timothy Miller on the front steps with his back covered in blood. Miller told authorities he had been on the front porch of his ex-girlfriend’s house when she attacked him with a machete and cut his back. A police report did not indicate what prompted the alleged attack.

Police arrested Murphy at 95 Franklin Ave.

The newspaper reports Miller was taken to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, where his condition was unavailable.
