CINCINNATI  — Authorities say a man grazed by a bullet fired by a Cincinnati police officer has been charged with jumping the officer and trying to wrestle his gun away.

Cincinnati Assistant Chief Lt. Col. Dave Bailey said it happened early Sunday when Sgt. Brian Norris was parked in a lot. He exited his patrol car to check out a noise, Bailey said, and the suspect jumped him without warning.

The two struggled for Bailey’s gun, and the officer was able to fire, with one of the shots grazing the suspect.

Thirty-two-year-old Ever Altamirano fled into some woods and was arrested after a chase.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Altamirano is charged with aggravated robbery and assaulting a police officer. Jail records didn’t list an attorney.
