Standoff between SW Ohio police, suspect with crossbow ends with surrender

HAMILTON, Ohio — Authorities say a standoff with a southwest Ohio man who was armed with a crossbow has ended with the man’s peaceful surrender.

Hamilton Police say the confrontation began around 7 p.m. Saturday, when they responded to a report of a suicidal person on Kahn Avenue.

An adult male at the address was armed with a crossbow. He lifted the weapon toward officers several times and threatened to kill any officer who entered the house.

Another family member inside the residence had locked herself upstairs. Hamilton firefighters were able to safely evacuate her through an upstairs window.

With the assistance of the Hamilton/Fairfield SWAT team, patrol officers were able to surround the house and get the suspect to surrender at about 9:30 p.m.

An investigation is ongoing. No charges were filed.
