Man charged in killing of 80-year-old Ohio woman
4/9/2014MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — A man is scheduled to appear in court after police say he killed an 80-year-old woman while burglarizing her central Ohio apartment.
The Knox County prosecutor’s office said 34-year-old Tyrone Caldwell was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated murder and aggravated burglary in the slaying of Marilyn Eversole in Mount Vernon, northeast of Columbus.
Police say Eversole was killed Tuesday morning at her apartment in a senior-living complex, but they’re not saying yet how she died.
Police said her killer was taking her TV when Eversole’s home health aide confronted the man. The aide, who wasn’t identified, was hospitalized with injuries suffered in an ensuing scuffle.
Caldwell was due in court today for a bond hearing. Online records did not list an attorney for him.
