DUNDEE, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man drowned while fishing the day before his 23-year-old birthday.

Tuscarawas County Sheriff Walt Wilton says 22-year-old Benny Zook and his three brothers were among a large group of Amish men who took horse-drawn buggies on Saturday morning to the Beach City Dam, about 40 miles south of Akron.

Wilton tells The Repository of Canton that the men were fishing separately and couldn’t see each other because of brush and trees.

A member of the group found Zook floating in the water. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Wilton says it’s unclear how long Zook had been in the water, or whether he fell in or got in on purpose.

Wilton says Zook’s 23rd birthday would have been today.
