WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio — Police say a plane has crashed shortly after takeoff at a regional airport, killing four people about 15 miles northeast of Cleveland.

WKYC-TV reports the plane crashed around 10 p.m. Monday after taking off from the Cuyahoga County Airport. It happened near the intersection of Bishop Road and Curtiss Wright Parkway, near the Lake County-Cuyahoga County border.

It was not immediately known where the plane was headed. The names of those on board were not available.

In 2009 two people were killed when a single-engine plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Cuyahoga County Airport.
