3 area stations get Regional Emmys

CLEVELAND - Three northwest Ohio television stations received a Regional Emmy at the 36th annual awards ceremony.

WTVG-TV, Channel 13, was honored for Outstanding Daily Newscast/Market 41-plus.

WUPW-TV, Channel 36, received the award for Outstanding Morning or Daytime Newscast/Market 41.

WBGU-TV, Channel 27, of Bowling Green was honored for the documentary Ketchup: King of Condiments, as Thomas Zapiecki prevailed in the Editor/Non News category.

Television stations in six markets - Cleveland, Indianapolis, Toledo, Youngstown, Fort Wayne, and Erie, Pa. - competed for Regional Emmys, presented by the Cleveland Chapter of the National Television Academy. Last night's ceremony was in Cleveland State University's Wolstein Center.
