WGTE Public Broadcasting has received three special grants to help promote literacy and early child development.

The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Service gave the station $1.2 million to promote early child-development. The station received $15,069 from the United Way s Women s Initiative to promote family literacy. Another $35,000 was received from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to promote literacy throughout the station s broadcast area.

The grants will be used for parent education, workshops for family home care programs, and to distribute story books to low-income children in the community.
