Reality show seeks a cast

12/2/2005

Steve-O, one of the stars of the former MTV series Jackass, is putting together a reality show, and Toledo has been selected as a recruitment location.

The premise is that Steve-O, whose real name is Stephen Glover, will find 16 uptight, grouchy, workaholic parents and teach them to relax and be cooler parents to their children. Any parent who survives 16 days at his camp in Malibu - completing various tasks and challenges - will receive $10,000. The camp's VIP will get a $25,000 bonus.

Kara Udell, a casting director from Los Angeles, is in town now recruiting families and expects to remain here for about a week. She said Toledo was chosen - along with cities like Fargo, N.D. and Little Rock - because "we just want typical families." Ideally, she said, production for the as-yet untitled show would begin in February.

Udell has done casting for shows like The Apprentice and Fear Factor. There will not be an open casting call for the show in Toledo, but anyone who is interested (children should be between the ages of 7 and 17) may contact her at 818-284-8298.
