Scott High delays radio season

8/29/2006

Listeners to Scott High School's WXTS-FM (88.3) radio station will hear static for awhile even though school is starting today, but it's only temporary.

The station is in the process of installing new equipment and will be down for probably two weeks, said John Kuschell, director of radio operations.

WXTS is putting in some automation equipment, he said. Once it's up and running, the format will stay the same with Scott students playing jazz from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, then turning the station over to the University of Toledo, which broadcasts from 8 p.m to 8 a.m. and on weekends.

"We're still here and we'll be ready to go," Kuschell said, noting the station has been operating since 1975.
