Toledo-Lucas County Public Library teen specialist Mary Plews finally got her shot on the TV quiz show Jeopardy! last night, finishing third after battling through some tough categories.

A fan of the show all her life, Plews applied online for a spot on the show last

spring after trying unsuccessfully two years ago and made the cut from more than 10,000 people who qualified.

She taped the show in August and appeared last night. Sworn to secrecy by

Jeopardy! offi cials, she couldn t tell anyone how she fi nished until the show aired.

The mother of four said the categories were tougher than usual, with subjects like governors, southwest Indian history, and computer history. She also battled with the buzzers, which she said are trickier than they seem.

The Whitehouse resident and 20-year veteran of the library walked away with $1,000. She said the trip to Los Angeles and day on the show were a lot of fun.
