China's effect on economy is 'Deadline Now' topic

4/24/2009

The emergence of China, still officially communist, as a world economic power will be the topic on this week's Deadline Now television program.

What that emergence over the last 30 years means for the United States will be discussed by Tom Watkins, a former state superintendent of schools in Michigan who is now an education and economic opportunity envoy to China, and Olugbenga Ajilore of the University of Toledo economics faculty.

The host of Deadline Now is Jack Lessenberry, ombudsman for The Blade.

The program will air at 8:30 tonight and 2:30 a.m. tomorrow on WGTE-TV, Channel 30.
