Lambert loses gigs on 2 ABC shows

A week after getting dumped from Good Morning America, glam-rocker Adam Lambert is still in hot water with ABC for his racy performance a couple of days earlier on its American Music Awards telecast.

Now Lambert says he's been dropped from ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live and its New Year's Rockin' Eve.

"Yes, sadly, friends, ABC has canceled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE," Lambert wrote on his Twitter account Wednesday. He added, "Let's focus on being positive!"

Lambert, however, will not be absent from the small screen. NBC says he'll be a guest on The Jay Leno Show on Dec 21. And he's interviewed by Barbara Walters on her Most Fascinating People of 2009 special - airing next Wednesday on ABC.

Paul McCartney took his "Meat-Free Mondays" campaign to the European Parliament yesterday, saying the power to halt global warming lies as much with individuals as with their governments.

McCartney met in Brussels with Rajendra K. Pachauri, head of the U.N.'s global climate change panel, and praised the virtue of skipping meat one day a week for the sake of the environment.

The former Beatle and well-known vegetarian said the production of food - from farm to fork - accounts for 20 to 30 percent of global green house gas emissions. Livestock production is responsible for around half of these emissions.

Still, he admitted that his flight from London to Brussels - and on to Berlin for a concert last night - had contributed to global warming.

"They haven't invented microphones that work on candle power," he said. "I do everything I can. If I go for a car, I go for hybrid. I recycle."

ABC was expected to announce yesterday that it's moving Ugly Betty from the Friday-night dead zone to 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The show would replace the ill-fated Eastwick and would give the fourth-season show a strong lead-in with hit comedy Cougar Town.
