The Rychnovsky Recap, a half-hour local sports/entertainment show hosted by WUPW-TV, Channel 36, sports anchor and reporter Joe Rychnovsky, debuts about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, immediately following the NFC championship game.

The show then will settle into a permanent position at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, immediately following the Channel 36 newscast.

"The goal is to be informative, entertaining, and fun," Rychnovsky said. "You'll see anything from heartwarming feature stories about athletes overcoming great odds to hard-hitting pieces about steroid use in the local high schools."

Rychnovsky, who previously worked as a sportscaster at WTOL-TV, Channel 11, for nearly seven years, also will anchor the Channel 36 sports segment on Monday nights and provide various reports during the week.

"I've always done things a little differently. I try to reach out to the community and appeal to everyone, not just the hard-core sports fans," he said. "I believe a local sports show that goes beyond the highlights and scores is something that is really needed, and I hope the viewers will enjoy a fresh take on sports."

Former NBA player Steve Mix has joined the staff of WLQR-FM/AM to provide color commentary for high school basketball games.

Mix is a 13-year NBA veteran and was a color analyst for the Philadelphia 76ers for 22 years. A Toledo native, he was a standout player for Rogers High School and the University of Toledo.

WLQR, known as The Ticket, broadcasts at 106.5 on the FM dial and 1470 on the AM dial.
