Ch. 13 hires sports reporter
7/1/2011WTVG-TV, Channel 13, Thursday announced a new hire to its sports team.
Steve Slivka, a graduate of St. John's Jesuit High School in Toledo, is joining Channel 13 as a sports photographer/reporter July 21.
Slivka worked as sports director for KOAM-TV, Channel 7, the CBS affiliate in Joplin, Mo., for two years. While there, he also worked as the station's sports anchor and reporter. He interned at WTVG as well as WBNS-TV, Channel 10, the CBS affiliate in Columbus.
"We had a very large number of applicants and I'm confident that Steve will make an excellent addition to our tremendous team," Brian Trauring, WTVG's news director, said in a statement. "Steve will be here in time to help us cover the U.S. Senior Open in late July."
Slivka is filling a position opening at WTVG with the promotion of Dave Holmes to sports director in May.
