WTVG, TV, Channel 13, led all local news stations with 10 Emmy nominations from The Lower Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The ABC affiliate received nominations for its 6 p.m. and morning newscasts in a market 41-plus, as did WTOL-TV, Channel 11’s, for its 5 p.m. and a.m. newscasts.

The regional chapter of the Emmy’s, which includes northern Ohio, as well as parts of Indiana and Erie, Pa., announced its nominations Thursday.

Channel 13’s Sports Director Dave Holmes received five nominations. Holmes was nominated for sportscast (Football Friday) and, along with producer Shelly Gorringe, sports program (Border Battle), as well as in the categories for writing, anchoring, and hosting. The station also picked up a nomination each for its a.m. and p.m. weekend newscasts, and in the Technical Directing category for its 6 p.m. weekday news.
