BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University’s television station, WBGU-TV, will move to a new channel following an FCC spectrum auction the university withdrew from last month.
The university was hoping to see a large payoff, up to $43 million, for selling the station’s UHF station for a less-desired VHF station.
The auction was designed to free up space on the airwaves for an expanding number of wireless devices.
The money did not come up to a level the university felt was worth the move, BSGU spokesman Dave Kielmeyer said, but would not disclose the bids.
“We’re focusing on next steps,” he said.
As a result of other channels being sold, channels had to be rearranged. WBGU will move to channel 22 from channel 27.
