Plan for pay-by-card fee dropped by Verizon
12/31/2011NEW YORK -- Verizon Wireless on Friday dropped a plan to charge $2 for every payment made over the phone or online with credit or debit cards.
The company said on its Web site that "customer feedback" prompted the decision to drop the fees it wanted to introduce Jan. 15.
A petition on Change.org against the fees had gathered more than 95,000 names by Friday afternoon, a day after Verizon, the country's largest cell phone company, announced the fees.
