Three city of Sylvania Web sites are expected to be redesigned for mobile-phone compatibility starting in July.

Marketing and public relations firm R/P of Holland will revamp the city’s main site and those of its police department and Sylvania Municipal Court for $70,000.

The project to design 200 Web pages will be spread over the next two years, said Mike Tansey, the city’s information technology manager, who estimated $30,000 will be spent this year and $40,000 next year. The money will come from the city’s capital improvements fund.

Several technology-based sources, including Google Analytics, indicate mobile Web traffic will increase to 40 percent of Internet activity this year, Mr. Tansey said. About a quarter of cityofsylvania.com visitors now use mobile devices.
