DETROIT — Tigers right-hander Evan Reed is facing a complaint of sexual assault.

Detroit police Sgt. Michael Woody says the alleged victim is being interviewed.

David Gorcyca, Reed’s attorney, says he is very confident Reed will have “nothing to fear” once a thorough and full investigation is completed.

The Tigers released a statement Monday night saying the organization is aware of the “very serious allegation,” made against Reed, adding the allegation is “concerning,” and that it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.

Reed has given up two hits over 2 1-3 innings in two games this season. He was 0-1 with a 4.24 ERA in 16 games last year as a rookie.
