Post-grad scholarship for UT's Tuminello

3/20/2003

University of Toledo senior football player Chris Tuminello has been awarded an NCAA post-graduate scholarship, one of 29 male student-athletes from around the country who played a fall sport to receive the grant, worth $6,900.

To be eligible for the scholarship, a student-athlete must be a graduating senior, must have an overall grade-point average of at least 3.2 and must have performed with distinction. Tuminello, from Boardman, Ohio, holds a 3.92 GPA in civil engineering. He is the only athlete from the Mid-American Conference to receive an NCAA post-graduate scholarship for the fall of 2002.

Tuminello started all 14 games this season at center and earned All-MAC first-team honors. He was named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-America Football Team, earning second-team honors for the second consecutive year.

Tuminello is the second Rocket football player to earn this scholarship in the past two seasons. Placekicker Todd France, a Springfield High product, earned one in 2002.
