Stafford hired to UT basketball staff

7/25/2003

James Stafford has been hired as an assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Toledo.

Stafford replaces Mike Jackson, who left to become an assistant at Dayton.

Stafford, 35, was an assistant for one season at Wisconsin (1994-95) and one at Duquesne (2000-01). He has worked in the private sector for the past two years as an area manager for a child-care agency.

A native of Detroit, Stafford played at Siena Heights University and was part of the 1988-89 squad that set a school record with 31 wins on the way to advancing to the quarterfinals of the NAIA tournament.
