The University of Toledo bowed out of the Mid-American Conference volleyball tournament last night with a 30-21, 31-29, 30-28 semifinal loss to top-seeded Ohio University at the SeaGate Centre.

It was the first time in school history the Rockets had reached the tournament semifinals.

''I'm really proud of how our team played throughout this tournament,'' UT coach Kent Miller said. ''Coming off a huge win over Western Michigan yesterday, I'm particularly proud of how hard we played tonight, and we were right there with a great Ohio team.''

Despite the loss, Toledo (18-13) had an advantage in both kills (52-49) and digs (44-40).

Ball State libero Amanda McCormick notched a career-high 43 digs as the Cardinals upset second-seeded Eastern Michigan in five games in the other semifinal.

The championship match is set for 1 p.m. today at SeaGate.
