CINCINNATI - Treasure Humphries led a quartet of double-digit scorers for the University of Cincinnati in a 70-60 victory over the University of Toledo women last night.

The 8-1 Bearcats also got a dozen points from Shelly Bellman and 10 each from Jill Stephens and Anne Stephens.

Danielle Bishop led the 5-3 Rockets with 19 and Diana Reindl added 16.

Toledo and Cincinnati were tied 31-all at the break, but the Bearcats outscored Toledo by 10 in the second half.

Bishop had three treys and Kristi Zeller two in an effort to keep the Rockets close, but the Bearcats led by a dozen points at the mid-point of the second half.

"Cincy shot 70 per cent in the second half and we didn't execute offensively the way we needed to,'' Toledo coach Mark Ehlen said.

The Rockets cut the lead to 58-56 with 5:54 to go on a jumper by Reindl before the Bearcats went on a 6-0 spurt, and then made a handful of free throws to sew up the victory.

''I'm proud of our team and the way we played,'' Ehlen said. "Cincy is a good team and to compete on this floor the way we did showed a lot of character.''

Toledo's effort was made tougher by being outrebounded 38-24, and outscored by the bench 19-10.

The women are scheduled to play in New Orleans on Dec. 28-29 in the Tulane DoubleTree Classic.

It will be only the second sports event to be held in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. Toledo's opponent in the first game will be either Tulane or Samford.
