SSOE, Ellerbe Becket chosen as architects for UT project

The University of Toledo announced yesterday that SSOE, Inc. and Ellerbe Becket have been selected as the architects for its upcoming Athletics Complex project.

The project includes the construction of an addition to Savage Hall, the renovation of the Savage Hall arena and the construction of an indoor practice facility adjacent to Savage Hall.

SSOE is a Toledo-based firm that previously has worked on many projects on UT's campus, including the Larimer Building and the Glass Bowl renovation in the early 1990s. Ellerbe Becket, out of Kansas City, has designed numerous professional and college athletic facilities throughout the country, including Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

"When our project is completed, I believe we will have the finest athletic complex in the Mid-American Conference," said UT athletic director Mike O'Brien.

The design teams from SSOE and Ellerbe Becket are currently working on drafts of the project.

Designs for Savage Hall and the new indoor practice facility will be unveiled later this year. Work on the infrastructure of Savage Hall will be under way very soon.
