UT, BGSU players named to MAC Academic squad

The University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University each had players named to the All-Mid-American Conference Academic squad.

UT senior forward Jerrah Young and BGSU sophomore center Marc Larson were honored. Also named to the squad were Western Michigan's Andrew Hershberger, David Kool and Joe Reitz.

Young, from Chicago, graduated last spring and began work on his master's degree in the fall and posted a 3.2 GPA in recreation administration. He led the Rockets with 6.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game and ranked third on the team with 10.5 points per game. Young also set a school record this season with 31 blocked shots in conference play and his 43 blocked shots were the third-most in school history.

Larson, from Mattawan, Mich., maintains a cumulative 3.94 GPA as a mechanical design major. He started all 30 games for the Falcons in 2007-08, averaging 4.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots per game. He also shot 49.5 percent.
