University of Toledo coach Tim Beckman, and former Oklahoma State defensive coordinator, said Monday he plans on taking a greater role this week in the defensive game planning for the Rockets' Nov. 11 matchup at Central Michigan.

UT allowed 436 yards of offense in a 31-24 loss at Miami (Ohio) on Saturday. The Rockets rank last in the Mid-American Conference in scoring defense and second-to-last in total defense.

Beckman added that the defense's performance is "killing" him, but said he still has full confidence in his defensive staff and believes the unit is getting better every week.
