Valparaiso runs all over visiting Toledo in a rout

VALPARAISO, Ind. - Valparaiso trampled over the visiting University of Toledo 81-49 yesterday in a matchup of men's basketball teams searching for their fourth win of the season.

Valparaiso (4-6) led 38-24 at the break and blew open the game with a 13-0 run to begin the second half.

No Rockets scored in double digits with Jordan Dressler and Malcolm Griffin each contributing nine points. UT turned the ball over 18 times compared to seven assists and made just one of eight 3-point attempts.

Cory Johnson and Brandon McPherson each scored 15 points for the Commodores, who received another 13 from Brandon Wood.

Dressler grabbed eight of UT's 29 rebounds and Griffin assisted on three buckets. Freshman Jake Barnett missed all five of his shots from the field but converted each of his six free throw attempts.

Valparaiso shot 52 percent from beyond the arc (12 of 23) and converted all of its attempts at the same rate.

UT shot nine more free throws than its opponent but made just 14 of 22.
