ESPN plans may affect University of Toledo-Boise State game

The University of Toledo's football game at Boise State next season could be in jeopardy.

Boise State is in negotiations with ESPN to move its matchup with Virginia Tech to Labor Day on Sept. 6, 2010, but the Broncos are already scheduled to play the Rockets five days later on Sept. 11.

Boise State has so far resisted the move unless it can reschedule its game with UT, either later in the season or to another year.

One possible scenario is the Boise-UT game gets moved to Oct. 2, which would necessitate the Mid-American Conference making some adjustments to its league schedule to accommodate the Rockets' trip out west.

"I expect that it'll get done," Western Athletic Conference commissioner Karl Benson told the Idaho Statesmen earlier this week. "When ESPN puts its hand on these things, they usually move them. ESPN is a powerful entity."
