UT's Barnett named to MAC all-freshman team

CLEVELAND - University of Toledo's Jake Barnett was named to the All-Mid-American Confernce freshman team yesterday.

Barnett, a 6-foot-5 guard, averaged 12.9 points and led the Rockets with 24 games of scoring in double figures.

Bowling Green sophomore Scott Thomas was named All-MAC honorable mention.

Thomas, a 6-foot-6 forward, led the Falcons in scoring with 13.2 points per game and was second in rebounding (6.3). He also topped the Falcons in steals (47) and finished second in assists (84) and blocked shots (20).

The All-MAC first team included Akron's Jimmy Conyers, Buffalo's Rodney Pierce, Miami's Kenny Hayes, Kent State's Chris Singletary, and MAC player of the year - Western Michigan's David Kool.

Kent's Justin Greene, Central Michigan's Jordan Bitzer and Robbie Harman, and Eastern Michigan's Carlos Medlock and Brandon Bowdry were named to the second team.
